Roger was born in Lincoln Nebraska and moved to Massachusetts several years later. From there he moved to Walla Walla in 1972 where he was raised, educated and met his wife of 35 years; Susan. Together they raised 3 children.
Roger earned a BS in Business Administration from Walla Walla College then went to work in a skilled nursing facility as a Business Office Manager. Three years later he became a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator and has remained in this profession since.
Roger's philosophy in running a center is to stay engaged with each and every resident on a daily basis and to be involved in everything that impacts their lives. He is frequently seen sitting next to a resident and not only chatting with them but very frequently having brought them their favorite food, beverage, a good book he has read and is sharing with them or showing them pictures of his camping and biking trips. Residents and their families all know Roger.
Rogers favorite day of the week is Thursday as this is the day he is the dining room supervisor for breakfast. His first mission is to turn on Pandora and query residents as to the music they want to hear. Shortly thereafter the building starts a shaking and rocking and rolling as the music is blaring and Roger is cutting a rug with a resident or staff member. We call it our Breakfast Happy Hour.
In his free time Roger has become a bicycle enthusiast biking up to 40 miles at a time with his family throughout the Pacific Northwest. He also likes to camp and is considered a gourmet cook by his family and the center staff that he frequently cooks for. He also enjoys collecting and restoring/rebuilding vintage stereo equipment. He says that he is a really great Grandpa to his first grandchild who is about to turn 1.
